C.R.FLORENCE

C.R. Florence (Craig) was born on the crooked peninsula of Cape Cod in Massachusetts where he lives with his beautiful partner, their two children, and one very hungry cat.

Craig is a self-taught illustrator and comics artist, specializing in traditional line art. His comics work has been published by Scout Comics and Band of Bards, and has been featured in many different anthology collections including the RINGO! Award Nominated ‘Cthulhu Invades Wonderland’, ‘Holiday Spirits’ (vol. 1-3), ‘Always Punch Nazis’ (vol. 3), and the not-for-profit ‘BORDERx: A Crisis in Graphic Detail’ benefitting the South Texas Human Rights Center. He is currently working on ‘Black Sam’ a limited series based on the true tale of the pirate Captain “Black Sam” Bellamy and his love for Maria Hallet the “Witch of Wellfleet”.

When he isn’t making comics, Craig works as a teaching artist, volunteers with local community arts organizations, and finds ways to use his voie and his art to advocate for issues he’s passionate about.

I create comics and illustrations using traditional pencil and ink to tell stories that are important to me. Class struggle informs my work. I use the art of visual storytelling to inform others
